Music Teaching in the Federation of Tampere Parishes

Long-term and goal-oriented music studies that take into account pupil’s own intrests.
Teaching follows the guidelines of basic education of arts in Finland.
Instrument teaching
- Learning to play an instrument can be aimed at a degree or a lighter hobby.
- No age limits or entry exams.
- Teaching locations close to student’s home, all-around in Tampere.
Instruments
Piano, Church organ, Accordion, Kantele, Percussion/Drums, Guitar, Ukulele, Violin, Cello, Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute, Recorder, Trumpet and Singing.

Instrument lessons
Student can choose the lesson duration to be 20, 30 or 40 minutes.
Private lessons but also pair and group lessons are possible.
Students repertoire includes church music.
Music theory
Student can choose to attend to music theory classes which is recommended, but not mandatory.
Playing together
Different kind of possibilities for playing together in chamber music groups, accompaniment lessons, orchestra, band, choirs.
Price for Instrument Lessons
The price includes one semester of instrument lessons, i.e. autumn or spring semester.
There are three different lengths for the lessons: 20, 30 or 40 minutes per week.
The lower price applies if the student or one of the parents is a member of the Lutheran Parish in Tampere.

Performing
Music is important part of everyday life in church.
Students and teachers attend different kind of events during the church year performing music and cooperating with other departments of the church.
Performing and studying music is one way to be a Christian and to experience spirituality.

Kirkkomusikantit’s teaching is open to all ages – children, youth, and adults. Enrollment is ongoing and binding, and it is done through the electronic registration form on this page.
Music lessons take place in parish facilities across the city. The teaching location depends on the instrument.
Music play school
- Getting to know the basic elements of music. Including dancing, singing, listening to music, playing rhythmical instruments.
- Learning how to be a part of a group first with your own adult and later with other children.
- Teaching is goal-oriented and supports musical growth in mental, musical and spiritual way.
