The Land of Stories method and the Story-Mat is a functional tool that includes elements from bibliotherapy, play therapy, symbol work and the method of ”future dialogue”. Originally this method was developed for peer support among children whose close family member is in prison, for example. Often these children carry heavy family secrets and they might suffer from lack of play and joy in their lives.
This method offers a new and fun way to create new possibilities and hope. Our experience shows that the method also suits well various adult groups, such as immigrants, team couching, work communities and personal councelling.
As a Land of Stories instructor you can offer customised peer support to children and youth whose life is encumbered about adults’ problems and other difficulties. At the same time children can find hope and words to describe their life.
If you are interested in using the method, you are most welcome to take part of the certified Land of Stories instructor training . We offer a functional and inclusive training program. The training program consists of three units. Each unit takes one day and is held in Tampere. After a completed training you gain 1,5 ects and a certificate that enables you to utilise the method. If you are interested in a customised training you can ask for an offer from us. At the moment the language of instruction in our trainings is Finnish.
