Jyrki 69, best known as the frontman of The 69 Eyes, and jouhikko player Pekko Käppi bring their Wirsiä tour to Messukylä Church with a programme built around traditional Finnish hymns.
Jyrki 69, best known as the frontman of The 69 Eyes, and jouhikko artist Pekko Käppi have recorded an album of Finnish hymns and are taking the music on a church tour around Finland.
“Church is where hymns are meant to be sung, and that is exactly why we recorded them – so that we could perform them in churches. Autumn is the perfect season for a church tour, and we are heading out right after the release of the Wirsiä album,” says Jyrki 69.
“The programme naturally focuses on hymns, but there is also room for highlights and stories from both of us. It is a fascinating meeting point between old and new,” Pekko Käppi adds.
