Tesoma Church
Tesoma Church is a red-brick neighbourhood church designed by Olavi Suvitie and consecrated in 1978. Its flexible facilities and large window overlooking the surrounding pine forest reflect its role as both a place of worship and a centre for parish life.

Current status
Tesoma Church has been closed since 4 August 2025 due to a major renovation. The renovation is planned for 2026–2027.
History and architecture
Tesoma Church was consecrated on Pentecost in 1978. The new church provided Harju Parish with a much-needed centre for a wide range of parish activities in the heart of the Tesoma neighbourhood. The church was designed by architect Olavi Suvitie.
The red-brick building stands on a pine-covered heath. The connection with nature continues inside the worship space, where a large window looks directly onto the surrounding pine forest.
Worship space and other facilities
Tesoma Church was designed as a multipurpose building. The worship space seats approximately 100 people. By opening the partitions to connect it with the parish hall and confirmation classroom, the combined space can accommodate up to 350 people.
The parish hall can accommodate up to 110 people for family celebrations and other events.
Together with the facilities on the lower floor, the church provides spaces for children, young people, adults and older people. During Holy Week, the immersive Via Dolorosa (Way of the Cross) attracts around 2,500 visitors each year.
Altar sculpture
The altar sculpture is Now We See in a Mirror – Then Face to Face (1975), a relief designed by Laila Pullinen. Depicting the suffering Christ, the work is cast in a brass-coloured bronze alloy and weighs approximately 500 kilograms.
Organ
The organ in the worship space was built by the Kangasala Organ Factory and has 12 stops.
Liturgical textiles
The liturgical textiles, supplied by Helmi Vuorelma Oy, were donated by teacher Hilppa Lilja.
Belfry
The bells in the belfry bear the inscriptions “God is love” and “Let anyone with ears listen.”
Driving directions
From Tesoman valtatie, turn onto Raiskionkatu at the junction marked with a church sign. After approximately 50 metres, take the first left. Parking spaces are located on the left at the end of the road. Tesoma Church is behind the Länsiportti shopping centre.
