Lamminpää Cemetery
Lamminpää Cemetery is a large cemetery in western Tampere, with both older and newer burial areas. The grounds include coffin and urn graves, a memorial grove, war graves and two funeral chapels.

About the cemetery
Lamminpää Cemetery was consecrated in October 1939. It was designed by architects Kai Blomstedt and Bertel Strömmer and covers 27.5 hectares.
The cemetery was later expanded according to plans by the architectural firm Laiho, Pulkkinen & Raunio.
Chapels and buildings
Lamminpää funeral chapel was completed in 1990. The building contains separate Large and Small Chapels.
The old chapel, Rauhanportti, dates from 1940 and was designed by Bertel Strömmer.
Memorial grove and war graves
The war graves section commemorates 38 people who died in the Continuation War. Fourteen are represented by memorial graves without remains being buried at the site, and a further five are buried in family graves.
The war memorial cross dates from 1947 and was designed by Bertel Strömmer. At the foot of the cross are the inscriptions:
“Lord, you have been our refuge from generation to generation.
Whoever loves God must also love his brother or sister.”
The cemetery also has a memorial grove and other memorials. These include a communal grave for employees of the Epilä leather factory and a memorial marking the grave. Twenty people are buried there, and their occupations connected with leatherworking are listed on the memorial.
