About the cemetery

Vatiala Cemetery is located in Vatiala, Kangasala, and is one of the cemeteries maintained by the Tampere parishes. The cemetery covers 25 hectares, with an additional 1.5-hectare forest cemetery.

The cemetery was designed by landscape architect Veikko Rauhala. It forms an extensive park-like setting combining traditional burial areas with the more natural surroundings of the forest cemetery.

Chapels and buildings

Vatiala funeral chapel was completed in 1960. The same building contains the Large Chapel and the Small Chapel. The building was designed by architect Viljo Revell, and its furnishings by designer Olli Borg.
